Somnair co-founders, Mitchell Turley and Anders Sideris are both graduates of the Johns Hopkins Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design (CBID) program where they founded Somnair, a neurostimulation device. Similar in looks to a retainer or mouthguard, the device provides non-invasive and cost-effective treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Millions suffer from OSA, doubling their risk of stroke, heart attack, and diabetes. Current solutions such as CPAP and surgical intervention are ineffective, invasive, and expensive. Somnair is custom fitted, manufactured, and delivered to patients in less than 10 days. The device keeps the patient’s airways open while they sleep. Designed for comfort and safety, all the electronics are incapsulated and the patient cannot even sense the movement of the device.
