Research Interests
Biomedical optical imaging for medical applications
We are looking for breakthrough by delivering the power of optics to the real-world medical demands. With collaborations with hospitals, we are working towards the following directions:
- Enabling technologies for image-guided surgery of gastric and colon cancer with optical coherence tomography
- Parathyroid imaging during thyroidectomy with OCT and highly sensitive auto-fluorescence detection
- Fiber-optic intraocular endoscopy with OCT
- Novel swept sources for OCT
Ultrahigh speed signal generation and processing
We have developed methods for ultrashort, ultrahigh repetition rate optical pulse generation and ultrahigh speed optical signal processing based on nonlinear properties of optical fiber and semiconductors. Applications include optical pulse shaping, signal regeneration, optical logic gates, optical frequency generation, microwave-photonics radar imaging and etc.
