Dr. Yvon Woappi’s passion for life sciences ignited during his childhood in Douala, Cameroon and was magnified after his family immigrated to Hanover, Pennsylvania during his middle school years. His work focuses on engineering 3D skin culture systems and multifunctional gene-editing platforms to study stratified tissue regeneration.

Peter Doyle is a human factors engineer with more than 40 years experience. As the first human factors engineer in The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Doyle evaluated medical devices for purchase and supported patient safety initiatives for surgical tools, alarm management, and urgent care response. He also performed risk management and developed guidance for integrating complex healthcare technology.

In addition to teaching several core BME courses such as Modeling and Design, Molecules and Cells, and Computational Cardiology, Dr. Haase recently served as a Fulbright Scholar at the Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Uganda. She will be speaking about her life and career in teaching, research, engineering design, and global health.

David Van Valen PhD is faculty in the Division of Biology and Bioengineering at the California Institute of Technology. His research group's long-term interest is to develop a quantitative understanding of how living systems process, store, and transfer information, and to unravel how this information processing is perturbed in human disease states.

Dr. Sossena Wood is currently a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University. She has focused on neuroimaging at ultrahigh field MRI by developing radiofrequency instrumentation and a 3D printed head phantom for RF safety assessments.

Dr. Kebschull received a BA and MSci in Natural Sciences/Systems Biology from the University of Cambridge. He pursued his PhD in Tony Zador's lab at Cols Spring Harbor Laboratory where he developed DNA sequencing-based tools for brain mapping. He joined Hopkins BME as an assistant professor at the beginning of the year.
