Research Interests
Dr. Schneck is a world-renowned leader in the fields of cellular immunology and immunoengineering. As senior JHU faculty, Dr. Schneck has led multiple scientific and educational programs, including the largest NIAID funded basic immunology P01 awarded to JHMI, and was course director of the JHSOM GTS-immunology for over two decades. He has received awards from the Multiple Myeloma Foundation, American Cancer Society, and National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and has published in high profile journals including Nature Medicine, JCI, and Immunity. Dr. Schneck recently finished a five year term as an associate editor at the Journal of Clinical Investigation, JCI.
Dr. Schneck’s portfolio includes seven issued U.S. patents and multiple foreign patents. He is the scientific founder of NexImmune, a JHU spinout based on technology from his lab. In February of 2021 NexImmune had a successful IPO raising approximately $126 million in funding. Dr. Schneck has also received SBIR, TEDCO, and MII (State of Maryland) translational awards. He is currently head of the NexImmune SAB and on the Vcreate SAB. He is also Director of the Johns Hopkins Translational ImmunoEngineering National Center for Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, JH-TIE NCBIB.
