Six undergraduate students studying biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins have been selected to receive the Provost Undergraduate Research Award (PURA).

Established in 1993, PURA supports undergraduates as they pursue independent research, design, entrepreneurship, scholarly, and creative projects over the academic year.  With the help of a $3,000 fellowship, PURA recipients conceive and drive projects under the guidance of a mentor from any Hopkins division, center, or institute. Students will present their projects this spring at DREAMS, an annual celebration of undergraduate research at the Homewood campus.

This year’s recipients from BME include:

Chahal Ojas
Multimodal Deep Learning for Predicting Acute, New-Onset Heart Failure in COVID-19 Patients

Liao Yunhan
Modelling Intimal Hyperplasia and Its Mitigation Using Tissue-Engineered Microvessels

Nalla Ashish

Raj Sneha
Mechanical Property Characterization of WE43 and ZX10 Magnesium Alloys for 3D Braided Cable Fabrication in Sternal Closure Applications

Shirkin Selena
