Tilak Ratnanather, associate research professor of biomedical engineering, was chosen to receive a 2023 Diversity Recognition Award from the Johns Hopkins Diversity Leadership Council. This award acknowledges outstanding accomplishments of faculty, staff, and students whose demonstrable efforts advance and celebrate diversity and inclusion at Johns Hopkins.
Amanda Brown, associate professor of neurology and director of the Johns Hopkins Neuroscience Scholar Program, nominated Ratnanather in recognition of his efforts to promote the use of auto-captions to benefit anyone, including those with hearing loss in various settings, ranging from seminars to lab meetings.
The Diversity Leadership Council (DLC) was convened in 1997 with the charge of advising the university president on matters of diversity and inclusion.
The DLC presented the awards at the DLC Awards Ceremony on Monday, May 8.
