Alliance for Cardiovascular Diagnostic and Treatment Innovation (ADVANCE)
ADVANCE is an alliance between researchers and clinicians in the Whiting School of Engineering and the Department of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. The mission of the Alliance is to apply predictive data-driven approaches, computational modeling, and innovations in cardiac imaging to the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease.

The Center for Imaging Science (CIS) is immersed in the worldwide establishment of analytical models for image and pattern information transmission — analogous to the models generated in the Shannon era. A fundamental goal is extraction of metadata, and ultimately going from pixels to patterns to understanding.

The Institute for Computational Medicine (ICM) is developing quantitative approaches for understanding the mechanisms, diagnosis, and treatment of human disease through applications of mathematics, engineering, and computer science.
Kavli Neuroscience Discovery Institute
The Kavli Neuroscience Discovery Institute was founded with a $10 million gift from the Kavli Foundation matched with $10 million in funds from Johns Hopkins University to promote collaboration among neuroscience, engineering, and data science to better understand the relationship between the brain and behavior. Composed of an interdisciplinary team of researchers, the focus is on advancing research into traumatic brain injuries and debilitating diseases such as Alzheimer’s, autism, and Parkinson’s.
