BME Design Teams win honors in business plan competitions
BME Design Teams recently have won several top honors in national business plan competitions.
CervoCheck, a method to accurately detect early indications of preterm labor, won first place at the University of San Francisco Business Plan Competition. They also placed third in the University of Louisville Cardinal Challenge Business Plan Competition. They also won Division II (life sciences) and second overall
of the IC2 Business Plan Competition. The project’s sponsor is Abimbola Aina-Mumuney, M.D.. CervoCheck team members are Karin Hwang, Chris Courville, Deepika Sagaram and Rose Huang.
Cortical Concepts, a novel orthopedic implant for use in spinal surgery in patients with osteoporosis, won the Wharton Business Plan Competition, and placed second in the Cincom and University of Cincinnati Spirit of Enterprise MBA Business Plan Competition. The team members are Evan Luxon, Nicholas Martinez, Jason Hsu and Chris Komanski.
InSpiro, developing an inproved incentive spirometer, won Honorable Mention in the University of San Francisco Business Plan Competition.
